It happened on Richgrove Drive just north of Avenue 24 just early Saturday morning.
Highway patrol officers say 24 year old Candido Molina drifted into the dirt shoulder and ended up rolling his SUV several times.
Neither Molina nor his passenger were wearing seat belts at the time. The passenger died at the scene.
Molina had major injuries and was flown to Kern Medical Center. The name of the passenger has not yet been released.
