It happened near Selma just south of Floral Avenue. The highway patrol says a man leaving a nearby shopping center walked into the highway and was struck by a car.He died at the scene. Now officers are trying to figure out why he was crossing the highway.
"We don't know the speed of the vehicle, assume it was highway speed. Victim came from shopping center on the side of the highway, for unknown reasons. Still under investigation," Sgt. Blaine Haight said.
The car that hit the man also crashed into the middle divider. The people inside suffered minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital.
