The fire broke out around 3:15 p.m. near Washington and Mariposa. 30 Fresno Firefighters rushed to the scene after neighbors reported seeing an outbuilding on fire. The structure is located behind an abandoned home.

When fire crews arrived, the fire was starting to spread to the apartment complex next door. Fortunately, they were able to contain it to one of the five units and everyone managed to make it out safely.

"Well, at least we're okay. Who cares about the stuff? We're okay....yeah," said Stephany Rodriguez.

The cause is still under investigation. PG&E crews had to assess the safety of the building before allowing anyone back inside.
