L.A. City Fire crews had a brush fire contained to 5 acres shortly after 6 p.m. in the northeast portion of Griffith Park near the 5/134 freeway interchange. The fire was sparked between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Monday.

The fire was burning uphill above Zoo Drive near Victory Blvd.

At least two water-dropping helicopters were on scene to assist firefighting ground crews.

The terrain was described by the L.A. City Fire Dept. as heavy brush, but firefighting conditions were favorable since temperatures were relatively cool and winds were relatively light, according to the department.

No civilians or homes were threatened.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
