The Rubik's Cube is the world's top-selling puzzle. Odds are you've tried to solve it and failed.

Using time donated by Google, a team of researchers has figured out the holy grail of Rubik's Cube mathematics.

No matter how much you shuffle the cube it can be returned to its original state in just 20 moves. That may not seem like a big deal, but there are more than 43 quintillion potential configurations. And despite that it still only takes 20 moves to reach a solution.

By the way the world record for solving the Rubik's Cube is 7 seconds, it was set two years ago.
