Who's going to pay for Orange Cove's BMX park?

ORANGE COVE, Calif.

Wednesday night the City Council is meeting to discuss how to get the $490,000 state grant it was promised.

The park is located at Parlier and Anchor Street. It was built with money from Orange Cove's redevelopment fund in 2005.

Much of the cost was to be paid with a state grant. But the State Parks and Recreation Department says the City of Orange Cove failed to document its spending on the park. A state audit found more than $300,000 of expenses were considered "questionable costs".

Orange Cove Mayor Victor Lopez says he plans to appeal the state's ruling.
