The man was identified as Manual Serna, 38, a Fresno resident.
The Sheriff's Department responded to reports of a man firing shots from a residence located near Madison and Valentine Avenues in Fresno County at around 1:30 p.m.
Deputies and CHP officers blocked off neighborhood streets and blocked traffic around the residence.
A Sheriff's Dept. SWAT team entered the residence and wounded the man shortly before 4:00 p.m. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
