A Florida man may be rethinking his decision to help an alligator in distress.Alexander Alcantare spotted the gator in a canal behind his South Florida home with an arrow in its head.

When he tried to rescue the 7-foot gator, it bit him.

Alcantare continued, got the gator out of the canal and rode with it on his bike.

He called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. They came out and cited him for having an alligator and a raccoon without a permit.

"Well, somehow I ended up with a citation and I've got to get a permit for my raccoon," Alcantare said.

This isn't the first time Alcantare has run into trouble helping animals.

Once, when he tried to rescue a bird's nest near some power lines, he got severely shocked and lost part of his arm.
