Richard Norton was arrested last October.
Police say a security guard at a Macy's in Fresno saw Norton leaving the store with designer purses stuffed in his pants.
Norton was a 22 year employee at Macy's and just days away from retiring.
With his guilty plea, Norton admitted that for four years he stole merchandise, including designer purses, wallets and other items about $900,000 worth in all.
When he was arrested Norton had almost $350,000 in various accounts and more than $150,000 in cash.
