CPSC, FDA: Infant sleep positioners pose death risk

FRESNO, Calif.

The Consumer Project Safety Commission is urging parents to stop using infant sleep positioners, similar to the ones seen here. The two main types are flat mats with pads on the side ... and ones with an inclined wedge.

They're designed to keep babies on their backs in cribs to prevent sudden infant death syndrome. But at least twelve deaths have been reported when children turned onto their stomachs.
