Three hikers found, two more missing at Mount Whitney

FRESNO, Calif.

Search teams battled relentless snow but were able to rescue Phillip Abraham, Steven Filips and Dale Clymens around noon Thursday. The three men are from Nebraska. Park officials say the men left early Monday morning to climb Mount Whitney and got trapped in a snowstorm. The men were able to walk and move around and are said to be doing fine.

Meanwhile, a search continues Thursday night on Mount Whitney for the two additional hikers. A father and son originally from Iran have been missing since Tuesday.

Mount Whitney is located in Sequoia National Park. With an elevation of 14,505 feet ... it is the highest summit in the United States.
