Puppy thrown out of truck in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, Calif.

Witnesses say a man tossed the 10-week old puppy from a white Chevy pick-up driven by a woman. It happened along Highway 145 near Avenue Seven.

Staff members at the Madera County Animal Shelter have nicknamed the little lab-mix "Miracle" because they say it's a miracle she was not hit by a car.

The puppy is doing well physically, but the shelter director says she was traumatized by the act of cruelty.

The good news is someone has already started the process of adopting "Miracle".

Shelter staff members say they also have lots of other dogs and cats still in need of good homes.
