A 5-percent tuition increase will go into effect next semester, as well as a 10-percent tuition increase for the 2011 - 2012 school year.
Fresno State President John Welty traveled to Long Beach for discussion with university administrators Tuesday. He says he understands the burden for students, but says the schools need the extra money to restore classes and services eliminated last year.
Under the plan, the tuition would go up $105 for the spring semester.
