With the holiday just two weeks away, the freezers are empty -- the organization does not have any turkeys.
They expect to feed at least 600 families from Visalia and surrounding areas. Organizers hope the public will start coming forward with frozen turkey donations or money to buy food.
"We are facing families that are in such tough situations that they are struggling to purchase a turkey," said Jesus Quintanilla with the Visalia Salvation Army, "We have families that have come to us they have no job and no possibility to give toys the kids and right now we're concerned about the turkey."
The Salvation Army in Visalia will be distributing food to needy families on the Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
