Pedestrian killed by car in central Fresno

Fresno Police say an SUV struck a woman crossing the street just after 5:00 Wednesday evening on Cedar near McKinley. She died at the scene. Witnesses say they rushed to the woman's aide -- trying to keep her alive.

Witness, Paul Perez said, "My girlfriend just barely showed up. She's a nurse. We crossed the street and felt her pulse. There was no pulse. You can tell she was pretty much gone."

Neighbors say this isn't the first time someone has been hit by a car at the intersection. Police add the driver of the SUV wasn't hurt in the collision and is being cooperative.
