Suspect takes plea deal in Kerman double murder case

FRESNO, Calif.

34-year-old Chris Bernard Butler pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He'll be sentenced to no more than 25 years in prison in exchange for his testimony.

The defendants were all charged with killing Gary and Sandy DeBartolo in their home.

According to court documents, sheriff's deputies had the place under surveillance at the time. Sheriff's reports also show that butler confessed to being there and said he saw the chief suspect, Leroy Johnson, come out of the house bloody and carrying a knife.
