Investigators say it all started when Hanford Police tried to pull over a Honda for a traffic violation in the city limits.
But the driver took off, leading officers on a pursuit that ended at this field in Kings County. That's where police say two suspects got out of the car and started running.
"Our officers began to pursue the suspects. One of them fired at our officers. One of the officers was struck, but he's doing okay. He's already been released from the hospital," Captain Parker Sever said.
The officers also fired back at the suspects. They were able to catch one of the men, but they're still searching for the second one.
The man in custody was not injured during the shooting, but investigators are not sure if the other suspect was hit by any of the bullets.
Police have set up a perimeter, and the swat team is now searching homes in the area.
