Water worries in Seville may be a thing of the past

A watchdog group called "Community Water Center" tested the water and found it high in nitrates and other bacteria.

For the last several years, Seville residents have been pushing Tulare County Supervisors to help them install a new water system.

Supervisors Tuesday, approved an application for a one-million-dollar USDA Grant. The money would help pay for new pipes and fully fund a brand new water well.

But the grant is also reliant on one-million-dollars in state funding which still needs approval.

Rebecca Quintana adds, "That's a good step forward and we really appreciate the county is stepping up in the right direction for our community."

Residents believe the water system hasn't been replaced since 1875, when the local elementary school was first built.
