Standoff in Fresno ends peacefully

FRESNO, Calif.

It happened at a home off Fowler and Pontiac Thursday morning. Fresno Police got a call of shots fired at about 6:30 a.m., and when they went to investigate the resident at the home in question refused to come out.

Officers say 26-year-old Thomas White came out at least once during the standoff but refused to give himself up. Eventually, at around 9:30 he surrendered.

"He also made threats to the officers saying he was going to shoot them. Officers have just come out of the house and at this point have located nobody else inside the house. That was the first priority to make sure nobody else was inside the house," said Jeff Cardinale with the Fresno Police Department.

Investigators are searching the home for any weapons. They believe it's possible the calls from neighbors were fireworks and not gunfire.

White will be charged with felony resisting arrest.
