The two said that "after long and careful consideration" they have decided to end their two-year marriage.
The released a joint statement on Tuesday saying that "while privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
The two were wed in 2008.
Johansson, 26, recently appeared in "Iron Man 2," and Reynolds, 34, stars in "Green Lantern," which is slated for release in 2011.
