It happened around 8:30 Tuesday night at 3706 E. Mono Avenue and S. 7th Street.

Police say it all started with a drive by shooting at Mono and seventh, officers were already in the area investigating recent violent activity among tagging crews.

When police approached a car with three people inside, one suspect jumped out, that's when police fired and hit the suspect in the arm.

Police caught up with the suspect after he ran behind a house at Platt and Third.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says tonight's shooting is related to another drive-by shooting and a murder within the last two weeks.

Chief Dyer says he expects there will be retaliation for Tuesday night's shooting and that his officers will continue to be out in force cracking down on these violent tagging gangs.
