The Clovis Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint Friday night, as part of the "Avoid The 21" campaign.
Several police and sheriff's departments from around the valley -- and the CHP -- participate in the annual crackdown, looking for drunk drivers, and those driving without licenses.
Police say drivers often don't know how the alcohol they drink can impair their ability to drive.
"What ends up happening they're involved in an accident any many times that I've seen, it's not the DUI driver that's, its the innocent victim that's hurt the worst," John Weaver said.
The "Avoid The 21" crackdown continues every night through Sunday.
