Clovis wrestler expulsion hearing

FRESNO, Calif.

At 8 a.m., Clovis Unified is scheduled to hold a hearing here, on whether the 17-year-old should be expelled from school.

This video posted on you tube shows a version of what's known as the "butt drag." It's when one wrestler grabs his opponent between the buttocks to turn him.

But prosecutors say the 17-year-old took the move into the realm of sexual battery during practice against a Buchanan teammate. His attorneys say he shouldn't have been charged because he performed a legitimate wrestling move taught by the high school's coaches.

The criminal case against the teen has been delayed until January 27.

But Thursday's expulsion hearing is moving forward and is open to the public. The hearing is expected to go on throughout the day.

The boy's attorney plans to subpoena coaches and other witnesses to testify.
