Shooting in Fresno near Fashion Fair Mall

FRESNO, Calif.

Police say it all started around 6:30 p.m., when passengers in two vehicles got into a confrontation at Shaw and First.

It ended on First, just south of Shaw when the driver of an SUV rear ended the silver car.

Police say passengers of the SUV then fired several shots at the other car before taking off.

A police officer in the area heard the gunshots and tried to follow the SUV after making sure everyone in the car was okay.

That officer was unable to catch up to the SUV.

The victims back at the scene didn't cooperate with investigators.

"Two of the three victims remained. One of the victims left the area. It is possible that it is gang related. We do have identification on some of the victims, so this was not a random act," Lt. Mike Doyle said.

Police say the victims in the silver SUV won't even admit an initial confrontation took place as reported by witnesses.

Police are now looking for a black SUV, possibly a Suburban or Tahoe with front end damage.
