Liquor store clerk in Merced stabbed, suspect arrested

When officers arrived, they found the store owner, Guillermo Avalos, stabbed in the stomach. They say Avalos got into a fight with another man outside the store. That's when the suspect stabbed the clerk and took his handgun.

Police later arrested and identified the suspect as Uvaldino Hernandez. They also recovered the stolen gun. The store clerk was flown to a hospital and is expected to survive.
