Happy homecoming for Fresno soldier

FRESNO, Calif.

Friends and family members greeted U.S. Army Specialist Jayson Martinez with applause and hugs as he arrived at the airport. The 23 year old Firebaugh native spent the last four and a half years on active duty. Now, he's ready to relax and start a new career. "I haven't had a lot of time to be with my family and my friends so I want to hang out with them, get reacquainted with everybody and then get ready for school. I want to become a paramedic and firefighter so I need to go to Fresno City and get some education and after that, move into the firefighting field," said Martinez.

While Martinez is no longer on active duty, he is still a soldier. He now plans to join the U.S. Army Reserves to continue serving the country.
