Handyman in Lemoore accused of sex crimes against kids

LEMOORE, Calif.

The little girls told police Luis Rivera had been touching them inappropriately for the past three months. Now, investigators fear there could be more victims.

Lemoore Police arrested Rivera at the Alderwood Apartments Wednesday morning -- just one day after the alleged victims came forward.

Rivera is the complex's maintenance worker. He's also a resident. Neighbors say he lives here with his wife and two kids, and that it wasn't uncommon to welcome him inside their homes.

Shannon asked, "Were you ever worried with him coming into your apartment with your daughter around?"

Stevie Flores said, "No, cause usually I was there, or her mom was there, or nobody was there at the time. I don't know if it's true or not, cause he looked like a nice guy. He looked like a church guy to me."

But, investigators say behind closed doors, Rivera was sexually abusing two young girls, who live at the complex.

Action News spoke with the alleged victims' mother. She did not want to go on camera, but says Rivera would lure her daughters into vacant apartments by giving them money to help him paint. Once inside, the girls claim Rivera touched them inappropriately on top of their clothes.

Lemoore Police Chief Jeff Laws says chances are -- there may be more victims. "Anyone that has any suspicions that their child was with this person alone, we would ask them to come to the police department and let the detectives come to the police department and let us make a determination that something did happen."

Police have already interviewed several people at the complex.

Parents who live there say it's a fearful reminder to always keep a close watch on your kids.

Dwyla Andrews said, "As a parent, just watch out for your kids, just sit outside with them you know, take the time to check on them and make sure things like this are not happening. Talk to your kids."

Employees from the complex would not comment on Rivera's arrest.

If you have any information on this case, you are urged to call Lemoore Police.
