Gary Collins and his wife, Damian Collins, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that they went to see Jigme Norbu (JIG'-me NOHR'-boo) on Monday when he was walking toward their wine and cheese shop during his journey to promote Tibetan independence from China.
The couple says they tried to persuade Norbu to stop and spend the night at their place because they were concerned he would be walking after dark.
Damian Collins says Norbu told her he had gotten a late start leaving St. Augustine on Monday and he was behind schedule.
