Shannon Oliver has worked with the Tulare Police Department for five years. Visalia Police arrested her Wednesday night after she crashed into a fence near the Visalia airport. Oliver was driving her patrol car, but was off-duty and not in uniform at the time. Officers say she had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal driving limit.
Capt. Ed Lynn said, "The vehicle did leave the roadway and struck about 50 feet of cyclone fence along the airport and a couple of street signs
Capt. Wes Hensley said, "What we stand for is not driving while intoxicated on narcotics or alcohol it's what we strive to do keeping those motorists off the roadway so it's a big shock to the department when you find one of your own is suspected of being involved in that."
Oliver remains on paid administrative leave. She could be arraigned on DUI charges by the end of the month.
