Investigators say it happened Wednesday night outside a home just outside of Fowler.

Deputies responded to a disturbance call around 9 PM and when a small group of officers approached the home -- the deputy handler got bit by another K9 handler's dog.

An ambulance rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center and treated him for his injury.

"He's doing okay. He's just, obviously he's got a dog bite. That hurts so but he's doing ok." said Sgt. Brent Stalker.

Deputies arrested one man for the disturbance call but did not say what charges he may face.

As for the dog -- he was taken back to the station and investigators say he will not face any punishment at this time.

We're told incidents like this one do happen from time to time while in the line of duty.
