Fresno State students elect new ASI President

FRESNO, Calif.

Friday morning, school officials announced the results of this week's Associated Students election. Students voted on 19 positions including ASI President.

The current vice-president Selena Farnesi beat out two other candidates to win the role. The current president Pedro Ramirez has been criticized about his immigration status and whether he violated the school's code of conduct after a recent car crash.

Farnesi says she hopes to change the recent negative attention surrounding ASI. "We want people to be show casing all the great things students are doing, all the fabulous projects that are going on. All the successes of the Fresno, and that's what I intend to do. Take the media attention and use it for the positive."

Pedro Ramirez's current status as president is under review. The newly elected officials will be sworn in June first.
