Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin kicked off the first- ever "Blob" Awards at the Karma Lounge downtown.
"Blob" stands for "best locally owned business" and includes bars, restaurants, grocers, and any other business locally owned and headquartered in Fresno.
Twenty six different establishments received awards Friday evening with Me-N-Ed's Pizza taking top honors.
All winners will be listed in a new business directory to be distributed across the city next month.
