Senior Geronimo Gonzalez beat out nice other seniors from to be crowned prom king. Gonzalez is a special education student whose friends and teachers have made a big push for him to be crowned prom king.
"Geronimo is probably one of the most charismatic students that I've had in a long time. He's got the personality and the make up to be king," said David Kawakami, a teacher at the school.
Geronimo's friends told Action News he is a hard worker and a great class mate, which is why their votes were cast for him.
"He's a good friend. He's nice to everyone, even if he doesn't know you , when he sees you he'll shake hands with you. He's got a big heart," said Nhia Thao.
"I think it's great for him, it doesn't matter if it's regular ed or special ed, everybody should have a chance," said Geronimo's date Melissa Reyna. "It's fair and it's fun and it's memorable for everyone else too."
Teachers at the school said it has been years since they've witnesses so many students coming together to make another student feel so special on one of the biggest nights of high school.
