Flip cameras get the ax

SAN JOSE, Calif.

The networking and router company bought the Flip camera division two years ago for $590 million.

Company officials say the shutdown is part of a reorganization plan to save money and expand offerings for customers. 550 jobs will be lost by the end of the year.

A San Francisco company originally made the Flip camera in 2007, selling two million in its first two years in the market.
