Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant is in the middle of controversy, after what he did while on the bench Tuesday night.

After receiving a technical foul, Kobe stormed back to the bench where he shouted a homophobic slur toward Referee Bennie Adams. Bryant's reaction was caught on camera, on TNT's national telecast.

The NBA has fined Kobe $100 thousand. Commissioner David Stern called the former league MVP's actions 'offensive and inexcusable.'

Bryant is appealing the fine.
