19-year-old Jessica Lopez and Leslie Alvarez were on their way home to celebrate Easter in the Laton area when their car crashed into a pole just a few minutes from the college campus. Two other people survived the crash.
Friends of the two students say Jessica and Leslie were extremely motivated, smart and beautiful.
U.C. Merced is planning a moment of silence for the two students Tuesday at noon in front of the library.
