Shaela Warkentin goes home

FRESNO, Calif.

The teen used a walking stick as she made her way out of Children's Hospital, where she has been receiving therapy.

Shaela suffered critical injuries after a car crash in early March, which tore her face and left metal and glass in her skull.

As the Bullard High sophomore left, she said she is re-adjusting her life goals and is ready to take on the challenges ahead.

Shaela said, "I had a lot of dreams and stuff that I wanted to do and be and become but it's definitely going to change and but I know that the lord is opening up doors for me and there's definitely things that I can still do even if I'm always going to be blind."

Shaela still has years of recovery through therapy to help her regain strength.
