Kern County fire spokesman Sean Collins says the fire in the Lake Isabella area was 25 percent contained late Friday and residents were returning home.

Earlier, residents of 400 homes were under a voluntary evacuation and 100 homes were threatened, but Collins says the danger had eased late Friday.

No injuries have been reported. Collins says there was one report of minor damage to the patio roof of a home.

The fire began Friday afternoon north of Highway 178 and grew quickly due to strong winds.

About 200 firefighters battled the blaze.

Lake Isabella is a recreational destination about 110 miles north of Los Angeles.
