The CHP says the victims were involved in a three car crash around 6:30 Thursday night on the highway near Belmont in Central Fresno.
The two went to inspect their blown out tire when the passing car struck them. The impact killed a 22 year old man and left a 40 year old with major injuries.
The CHP says the driver of the car that hit the pedestrians did stop at the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
