Animal Control officers initially believed it was a Caiman, which is the smallest member of the alligator family. But experts at the Wildlife Center that's now caring for the reptile says it's actually an American Alligator. That means it could grow up to 18 feet long!
Officials at the Critter Creek Wildlife Station in Squaw Valley say they're hoping to keep the gator, but they need donations to finish building a habitat for him.
