Brandon Barnes remembered in Clovis

CLOVIS, Calif.

Friday, Brandon was on a scooter when he was hit by a car as he crossed an intersection.

Jordon Reily said Brandon was riding to his house from his father's just a few blocks away. When Brandon didn't show up, Jordon went looking for him. "There was police sitting right in the cross walk. So I went up and said so did the kid have a green helmet on, and they said yeah. I said that was my friend Brandon."

Sunday evening Action News talked with Brandon's mom, Stacey, at her home in Fresno County. "It's like I'm in a dream and I'm going to wake up tomorrow and it won't be true. And I'd do anything to have him back."

Brandon's father thanked the crowd of mourners, saying he knows now how much his son will be missed. "I love you guys and thank you again for coming out and showing support and love for my family and my son."

Brandon Barnes was wearing his helmet at the time of the accident. The driver who hit him stopped at the scene immediately.

At this time, police investigators are still trying to determine who was at fault.
