FRESNO, Calif.

A COOL PACIFIC STORM TO IMPACT THE AREA TONIGHT AND WEDNESDAY... AN UNUSUALLY STRONG...LATE SEASON... PACIFIC WEATHER SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO CENTRAL CALIFORNIA TONIGHT AND EARLY WEDNESDAY. THERE WILL BE A CHANCE OF SHOWERS...MAINLY FROM FRESNO COUNTY NORTH...WITH THE BEST CHANCE IN THE SIERRA NEVADA FROM HUNTINGTON LAKE TO YOSEMITE PARK. THERE ALSO WILL BE A SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS AS THE COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...AND AGAIN WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON OVER AND NEAR THE SIERRA NEVADA FOOTHILLS. RAINFALL WILL RANGE FROM A FEW HUNDREDTHS OF AN INCH IN THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY TO A QUARTER TO HALF INCH IN AND AROUND YOSEMITE. SNOW LEVELS WILL MOSTLY BE ABOVE 10000 FEET...BUT WILL BRIEFLY LOWER TO 8500 OR 9000 FEET WEDNESDAY MORNING. ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS. TEMPERATURES ON WEDNESDAY WILL BE MUCH COOLER...WITH SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S...TO MID 80S...WHICH IS 10 TO 15 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. TEMPERATURES WILL QUICKLY REBOUND BY THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY WEEKEND. SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY READINGS ARE EXPECTED TO HIT THE 100 DEGREE MARK AGAIN BY SATURDAY. PEOPLE WITH TRAVEL PLANS TO THE SIERRA NEVADA THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR COOL AND POSSIBLY UNSETTLED WEATHER...WITH A WINTRY MIX HIGHEST ELEVATIONS.
