It happened around 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Bonta and Bullard in Northwest Fresno. Police say the suspected drunk driver was backing out of his driveway when he hit the accelerator. They say he pulled out onto the street and ended up hitting his neighbor's parked truck two houses down.
A garage was a mangled mess, after, police say, a drunk driver lost control of his pick up truck Saturday morning.
"We rushed over and found the cops here and the fire department and everybody." Federico Tirado is helping clean up and survey the damage at his mother-in-law's house. He says she wasn't home when the accident happened but her house is a complete mess now.
"Her truck is pretty banged up. She has a motorcycle which is pretty banged up. There's a hole in the wall and the garage door is pretty banged up."
Fresno Police say the owner of a black Ford pick-up truck was backing out of his own garage two doors away when he hit his garage, then possibly panicked and accelerated down the street, smashing into another pick up truck, which was parked in the driveway.
The collision shot the parked pick up through the garage inside the home. There is now a large hole and paperwork is scattered around.
Fresno Police Sgt. Timothy Hahn says he's seen some strange accidents before but this incident is far from typical. "In light of accidents I've seen over the years, it's really hard to say what's unusual. It's definitely not something you normally get on a Saturday morning or early Saturday afternoon."
"It's just property damage. Not really people damage so it's all right."
The name of the suspected drunk driver has not yet been released but police say he failed their field sobriety tests so he was taken into custody.
