All merchandise is marked down between ten and forty percent. The company has three stores in the Valley, including a 25-thousand square foot building in River Park.

Property Manager Whitney Buford tells Action News while they haven't found another tenant to fill the empty space, the prime location will spark some interest.

Buford said, "It's a premier corner of our shopping center and uh, you know they have lovely signage you can see from the freeway, and especially with the new tenant Yard House coming in, there's going to be a lot of interest in it."

The liquidation sale will continue until September or until all of the merchandise is sold out. During that time, gift cards are still being accepted. Borders Bucks are only eligible until July 31st. And Borders Rewards Plus members can take advantage of extra discounts until August 5th.

Borders begins liquidation sales at all stores

Borders Group is beginning liquidation sales at all of its 399 stores.

A liquidation company that is part of the process said late Thursday that the sales will be held starting Friday at all 259 Borders superstores, 114 Borders Express and Waldenbooks, and 26 Borders airport stores.

Gordon Brothers Group, part of a group of liquidators leading the sales, says more than $700 million of the company's inventory, including books, stationery, music and movies will be sold.

Store fixtures, furnishings and equipment, including shelving and, in some cases, cafe equipment, will also be sold off

Some stores may remain open as Books-A-Million stores. That chain is bidding for leases and assets of 30 Borders stores.
