Police say they shot Carl Maggiorini, Junior when he tried to attack officers with a large knife.
The shooting happened Monday in the area of Maroa and Hedges around 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Maggiorini attacking another person with the knife. The officer who opened fire said he feared for his life and acted in self defense.
The officer is on paid administrative leave pending the investigation.
