South Valley businesses held E-Fairness rally

In turn, Amazon cut off relationships with thousands of businesses and people in the state who use the site. Many Visalia small business owners are outraged. They say online retailers offer more competitive prices because they don't charge sales tax.

Steve Farnsworth said, "I just hope the people of California will pay attention to this. For them to save 8% on a book long term isn't going to improve their lives but if all those books are sold throughout California it's going to affect all of our lives."

Amazon released a statement to Action News saying, "Offering low prices has driven our success in states and countries where we already collect sales tax or its equivalent, that's our business."
