Texting is actually encouraged at Tulare City School District

New devices in the classrooms there look like smart phones, but they're actually called "/*ActivExpressions*/." They interact with the lesson plan on the teacher's tech-savvy white board.

In class, each student is given one -- so they can text the teacher answers to multiple choice questions, math solutions and more.

With the help of federal grant money, the Tulare City School District spent more than a-half million dollars to install the technology in most classrooms from second to eighth grades.
