Police in TX recover more than $400,000 during traffic stop

ROSENBERG, TX

On August 10, at about 7:45pm, a Rosenberg police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 27000 block of Highway 59. Rosenberg police say the officer deployed his police canine to conduct an exterior search of the driver's vehicle. Police say the canine alerted on the front door seam and a large cardboard box containing a gas grill and propane tank in the bed of the vehicle. A large television set was also discovered in the front seat.

An investigation revealed a large amount of U.S. currency stashed inside the TV set and inside the propane tank. Officers say they seized almost $432,000 in currency during the stop.

Rosenberg police say the case is still under investigation and charges may be considered in the immediate future.
