According to the CHP, Mt. Whitney teacher Scott Nelson was biking near Rocky Hill Drive and Yokohl Valley Road just before 7 p.m. Thursday night when he collided with a 14-year-old who was out jogging.
Nelson hit the boy and flew into the air landing on the roadway. He died at the scene.
The boy suffered minor injuries.
Students at Mt. Whitney High School gathered early Thursday morning to morn the loss of their teacher before classes began.
