Police say the officer was responding to a burglary call near San Jose and Brawley in Northwest Fresno around 3:30 a.m. when the driver of another vehicle reportedly drove in front of the patrol car, causing the crash.

Police say the driver of that vehicle has died, and they say the officer was taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center for observation.
Brawley Ave. between San Jose and Barstow was closed for much of the morning but has since reopened.
